The Australian Rogaining Association - How it began
The Australian Rogaining Association was formed by one person before any other state association existed. Its only member was Victoria. Soon the Australian Rogaining Association flourished because it filled a need. One of the ARA's major aims was to develop the sport in other regions. Some people at the time may have felt that a national association should not be formed until several state associations existed; but as it turned out, the national association became the catalyst for other states to form associations. For many years, the stronger rogaining states provided funds to the Australian Rogaining Association to develop the sport in weaker areas.
