New Zealand Rogaining Association

On 17th May 2002, the formation of the New Zealand Rogaining Association was announced. The interim committee consists of key organisers of the 4th World Rogaining Championships in Canterbury in January 2001, and leading NZ rogainers who have participated regularly in New Zealand rogaines and recent Australian Rogaining Championships.

This group provides a spread of leaders from both North and South Island, and from different regional centres.

The calendar for New Zealand rogaines for 2002 is attached, and a summary of 2001 events is in Newsletter #74.

The significant work of Michael Wood in helping develop rogaining in New Zealand leading up to this important step would be acknowledged by all those who have followed the progress of the sport in NZ. Michael has been prominent organising events, promoting rogaining, and contributing to the IRF. Rogaining and orienteering in New Zealand have worked closely together (as they have in other countries) to the benefit of both sports, and this relationship will continue and strengthen.
