Strategic Plan for Rogaining

The International Rogaining Federation is in the process of developing a new strategic plan for rogaining. This will occur in three broad stages:
Stage 1. Collection and analysis of data
Stage 2. Planning
Stage 3. Implementation of the strategic plan

Members and observers have already been asked to provide basic data about the level of rogaining activity in their countries.

Australian Rogaining Association Rules and Technical Regulations

The ARA will soon commence a revision of its rules and technical regulations under the leadership of Mike Hotchkis. IRF Members and Observers have been welcomed into this process with the aim of helping uniformity of rules globally, and input from a wide range of nations.

This rules revision process will be by email and over a period of months. Discussions with the ARA indicated that the timeframe would not suit that of 6WRC where the rules are required shortly to assist people with their early 6WRC planning.

Rogaining in New Zealand

The New Zealand Rogaining Association has nominated Peter Squires to be its IRF representative.

The New Zealand Championships Roxburgh Ramble 24hr Rogaine, 15–16th March was a great success. The 94 competitors handled the tricky night navigation pretty well, the mist stayed off the tops, the food was great, and the course was varied enough to cause a multitude of different route choices. Keith Murray and Aidan Craig were clear winners from Jim Cotter and Bas Smith.

At the Annual General Meeting on Friday 14th March the following officers were elected:
President: Peter Squires
Secretary: Tom Barnfield
Treasurer: Bruce Meder
Committee: Phil Bones, Chris Byrch, Andy Buchanan, Bill Kennedy, Dave Laurie
IRF Representative: Peter Squires
